This document walks through how to send and track messages in the OnPage app, understand message priority and notification behavior, manage your on-call status and accounts, review schedules, and configure key settings such as predefined responses and notification tones.
Step 1: Start a New OnPage Message
When you open the OnPage app, you are automatically taken to the Messages tab. To send a new OnPage message, select the Compose Message icon.

Step 2: Choose Message Recipients
To select recipients, tap the Contact Book icon.

From here, you can view and select individual contacts

and groups.

On this page, you can see the status of each contact.

Green: OnPage is toggled on for that contact.

Red: OnPage is toggled off.

Blue: The contact was entered manually.
Select the desired recipients

and then tap Done.
Step 3: Compose the Message Content
From the compose screen, you can either use a message template or type a free-text message.

To use a template, select the desired template—for example, “Quarterly Fire Drill.”

Allow the template

to overwrite all fields so it can automatically populate the message with the necessary information. Review the pre-filled details and make any adjustments as needed.
Step 4: Set Priority and Send the Message
Once the message content is ready, choose whether the message should be High Priority or Low Priority, then send the message.

Before sending, you must select the priority level.

After sending, the message will be delivered to the selected recipients, and you will be able to track its status and responses.
Step 5: View the Message Audit Trail and Add Notes
To track your sent message and all responses, return to the Messages tab and select the specific message.

This opens the message audit trail, where you can see when the message was sent, delivered, and read. You can also add a note to the message for your own reference, and edit this note later if needed.

Step 6: Understand High vs. Low Priority Messages
High-priority messages are marked with a High Priority icon next to the closed envelope. Low-priority messages do not display this icon.
High-priority messages will override Do Not Disturb and will alert you every minute for up to eight hours until the message is read.

Low-priority messages have more customizable notification options and will not override Do Not Disturb.
Step 7: Open and Read Messages, and Manage OnPage Toggle
When you open a message, the envelope icon changes from closed to open.

You will only receive messages when OnPage is toggled on, as indicated above the message list.

When OnPage is toggled off, you will not receive any messages.
The app also displays when you are scheduled to be on call. If you toggle OnPage off while scheduled to be on call, you will see a warning icon indicating you are still scheduled to be on call during that time.
Step 8: Switch Between Multiple Accounts
At the top left of the Messages tab, you will see your current account. If you work with multiple organizations, you may have up to three accounts linked.

Tap the dropdown arrow next to the account name to switch between your available accounts.

Step 9: Review Your On-Call Schedule
Next, go to the Schedules tab to view your on-call schedule. Here you can look ahead to see upcoming shifts.

Use this view to plan for vacations, arrange coverage, or schedule shift changes with colleagues as needed.

You can also toggle to the Team Schedules view to see who else is on call and when. That covers the key information for schedules.

Step 10: Configure Key Settings and Notifications
Now open the Settings tab. Most options are self-explanatory, but a few are particularly important:
Under Predefined Responses,

you can create commonly used message replies such as “I’m available” or “I’m not available.” These can be tapped to respond to messages quickly without typing.
You can also change the notification tone for both high and low-priority messages.

The default tone is intrusive and loud, designed to wake you up, but you can choose from several less intrusive options.

Additionally, you can adjust the volume level of notifications here to match your preference.

Your basic OnPage setup and usage is now complete.
