What is an OnPage ID?
An OnPage ID is a unique identifier used to receive and send pages within the OnPage system. OnPage IDs can belong to Contacts or Groups, allowing users to direct messages to individuals or entire teams efficiently.
Choosing an OnPage ID
- OnPage IDs must be at least five characters long.
- If you plan to receive pages via phone using the OnPage toll-free number, choose an all-numeric OnPage ID that is as short as possible. For example:
78191
. - If you include alpha characters, keep them short and simple.
- Keep in mind: If someone needs to page you by phone, they will have to enter your OnPage ID using the corresponding letters on a dial pad.
Uniqueness of OnPage IDs
Each OnPage ID is unique across the system, ensuring that messages are always directed to the correct recipient or group.
OnPage Licensing
Each OnPage ID assigned to a contact requires a valid license to receive and respond to messages. However, OnPage IDs used for groups do not require a license, as they simply act as a way to organize and distribute messages to multiple licensed contacts.
How OnPage IDs Are Used
- For Contacts: Each OnPage user has a unique OnPage ID, which others use to send direct pages.
- For Groups: Groups can also have an OnPage ID, linking multiple users. When a message is sent to a group’s OnPage ID, all members receive the notification based on their individual settings.
- For Schedules: OnPage ID Groups can be used to create schedules, ensuring alerts are sent to the right people at the right time based on on-call rotations or predefined shifts.
By carefully selecting your OnPage ID, you ensure quick and seamless communication within your team or organization.
